Explanation of Event levels
Local events are usually low key and in the 'localised' area, ideal for newcomers to try the sport. Training are non competitive events used for training and coaching, aimed at members of the club, but they can attract people from neighbouring clubs, and are often ideal for newcomers to try the sport. Regional events attract participants from around the local Region, National events are high quality competitions that will attract people from far away, Major events are Major Events such as a British Championships.

Overview
The theme of the next training activity is “What am I looking for?”. A useful insight into understanding control descriptions and interpreting the map.
The training is aimed at beginners and rusty orienteers. There will also be some simple O courses for beginners. It will be in Nonsuch Park near Epson.

Free for members of GO and Mole Valley. £4 for non- members.

Miscellaneous
We will be providing courses for newcomers to try orienteering and there will be volunteers to help learn how to use an orienteering map to navigate around a course.
For improvers there will be an opportunity to practice visualizing control sites, understanding ‘control descriptions’ and going to exactly the correct part of the feature.
Please make sure that you come wearing shoes suitable for running off-road, full leg cover (NOT SHORTS!) and a compass and ‘dibber’ if you have them – they will be available to borrow if required.
Bring silva compass if you have one. We have some spare.
Bring your own lunch and plenty to drink.
