PLANNER'S COMMENTS

The planning started in June when the bracken was head high and most of the area seemed unusable. After that less than promising start things could only get better - then it started raining. On Saturday the streams were waist high, icy cold and potentially dangerous but by Sunday they had retreated to such an extent that nobody even commented upon them. Thank heavens!

It wasn't easy to make the long courses challenging. There was some route choice but after speaking to a few competitors I found there were a lot more options that I hadn't even considered. So perhaps it wasn't as easy as I had feared. As always I struggled to get the junior courses right. In particular I hope those on Orange and Yellow found the courses had the right balance between getting you round safely but asking you to do some proper orienteering on the way.

Ambersham is a lovely place and early on the Sunday morning with mist and sunshine it was particularly nice. I hope you enjoyed it and thanks for coming.

Jim Morris, with many thanks to Alastair who helped me with the planning and Robin for keeping us on track
