CONTROLLER'S COMMENTS

Not everyone likes score events, they can be a bit intimidating for the slower and junior runners, but I hope you enjoyed this one - it was after all, a 'Championship' event!

To try and even things out, controls were located so that it would impossible to collect them all. Points were also distributed so that with a little thought, a high score could be got without having to visit the extremities of the area. Unfortunately the display of these on the map could have been improved, the excuse being that the maps were overprinted before the points values were allocated. It would also have helped competitors to receive their map one or two minutes before the start, to allow them to plan their route. These ideas and suggestions have been passed to the next SE score event planner! A few control descriptions had to be changed due to the slippage of the 30 year old (!) overprinter, but I was unaware that this caused any problems.

The GO organisation worked smoothly and efficiently; especially the computer team who coped very well with the 'stress' that has now passed from the finish to registration.

Finally, competitors must remember to download their dibbers before leaving the event, else the organisers (and the controller!) are not immediately aware that you have finished. Just visiting the finish control is not sufficient. Luckily we were able to telephone the three miscreants to ascertain they were already at home.

Finally, congratulations to the winning team!
