Controller's Report

I trust you all enjoyed your muddy splash round the paths. Pete's planning was certainly conservative. However, given, the amount of grot off the paths, a few places where the area did not entirely agree with the map, and a fair sprinkling of trees that have fallen in the last month, I think he was right to do so. I certainly didn't hear anybody moaning about spending ages floundering round in rubbish and there would have been if Pete had been more adventurous.

The other talking point is the Olive Course as that is new this year with Seniles being reduced to 3 courses. One effect has been to shorten the longest course - I think a winning time of around 40 minutes about right for that course. The Ochre has to stay as it is for juniors and novices. The question is whether what is offered in between meets demand. I tend to think it falls between two stools - too easy for those not up to the longest course and too hard for those wanting more than the Ochre. On the other hand it certainly saves the planner effort and one event is too soon to judge. It should run for the season and then be discussed.
