Orienteering Programme for Juniors in Guildford and West SurreyGO Bananas

Last updated: Tue 23 Feb 2021

GO Bananas! is a regular programme for children & young people from 4-18 years old. If you like exploring outdoors, walking or running, or looking at maps, this could be for you!

The programme has three aims:

  1. Help children get started with orienteering
  2. Provide regular training & events to learn and improve
  3. Make friends, socialise and have fun!

We think Orienteering is brilliant fun, and you’ll meet other young people who think so too!

If you would like further information please contact Phil Conway at juniors@guildfordorienteers.com.

What is Orienteering?

Here is a short description of orienteering.

How do I get involved?

You can come along for a “taster” session to check out if you might like orienteering. This can be any session during the year. Just send an email to Phil Conway at juniors@guildfordorienteers.co.uk to let us know you will attend.

To join the programme regularly, you should join Guildford Orienteers as a junior member, either online here, or by contacting the Membership Secretary membership@guildfordorienteers.co.uk.

How much does it cost?

It costs £5 per year to join as a junior member of Guildford Orienteers. Then you can attend the weekly junior training, and also other orienteering events. Weekend events cost juniors approx £3-6 each to enter.

You will need a compass, but if you don’t have one, we can provide one for you to borrow.

As a member, you will also receive a colour orienteering magazine three times a year.
