Explanation of Event levels

Local events are usually low key and in the 'localised' area, ideal for newcomers to try the sport. Training are non competitive events used for training and coaching, aimed at members of the club, but they can attract people from neighbouring clubs, and are often ideal for newcomers to try the sport. Regional events attract participants from around the local Region, National events are high quality competitions that will attract people from far away, Major events are Major Events such as a British Championships.

Overview

There will be a course designed for beginners with volunteers available to accompany them. For improving orienteers we will focus on developing an understanding of map features . There will be a number of courses to try.

Miscellaneous

Bring water and sandwiches plus a fast-setting compass if you have one. We will have compasses to borrow. Wear long running trousers and suitable shoes.

Unless the weather is particularly bad we are likely to go ahead. Please look out for an early morning email on the day should the weather look particularly inclement.
